In some cases it is found that in Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation physiotherapy is the most important part. Wide varieties of individuals with cardiopulmonary disorders or those who have had cardiac or pulmonary surgery has been treated with this therapy successfully and have got cured soon.

This specialty includes increasing endurance and functional independence. Generally manual therapy is most useful to assist in clearing lung secretions experienced with cystic fibrosis.

Statistics show that disorders, including heart attacks, post coronary bypass surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pulmonary fibrosis, treatments with physiotherapy is beneficial.

The important thing here to remember is that the physiotherapist has to be specialized in cardiovascular and pulmonary treatment.

Geriatric physiotherapy covers issues concerning people with normal adult aging and the older adult but normally the elder people are the most affected by this kind of problems.

Generally many people as they grow older suffer diseases like Alzheimer’s, arthritis, balance disorders, cancer, cardio-vascular disorders, incontinence, joint-replacement, and osteoporosis etc. To heal them the physiotherapists use this kind of therapy with specialized programs according to the nature of the diseases for restoring mobility, reduce pain, and increase fitness levels.

In cases where the patient simply does not use their limbs or exercise, problems can be addressed by reconditioning through a range of motion exercises and other exercises.

Neurological

Neurological physical therapy works in problems where individuals who have a neurological disorder or disease.

Therapy is in most need for Alzheimer's disease, ALS, brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, and stroke.

The Common situations that are associated with neurological problems include impairments of; vision, balance, ambulation, activities of daily living, movement, speech and loss of functional independence.

Till date physiotherapy has been the most effective in curing or at least in tackling such cases smoothly towards complete cure.

Orthopedic

To diagnose, manage, and treat disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system including rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery, orthopedic physiotherapy has become almost a compulsery.

Orthopedic physiotherapists are competent enough in the treatment of post-operative orthopedic procedures, fractures, acute sports injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, back and neck pain, spinal conditions and amputations.

Mobilization / manipulation of Joint and spine, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, hot/cold packs, and electrical muscle stimulation (e.g., cryotherapy, iontophoresis, and electrotherapy) are modalities often used to accelerate the recovery in the orthopedic setting.

The emerging add-on to diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic problems is the use of sonography.

This not only helps in diagnosis but also is found useful in muscle retraining.

Those who have suffered injuries or diseases that affect the muscles, bones, ligaments, or tendons of the body get benefitted from orthopedic physiotherapy.
